vs Artboard

Ycode: Your Bubble alternative

Bubble and Ycode are kinda like twins separated at birth, each characterized by their sleek appearance and smart features—both a complete package with all the charm!

That said, each twin has individual strengths. While Bubble helps you design projects to a tee, Ycode is more powerful when it comes to dynamic content and databases.

Design

Ycode

Start a project from scratch, use a template, or clone a project and copy it into your account with one click. Once in the canvas, you'll have an extensive design sidebar with advanced options to play around with. Customize each element until you're fully satisfied, and see the changes happening directly in front of you!

Artboard
Bubble

Like Ycode, Bubble's UI is clean and sparkly. There are several design options, though all the elements are shown at once which can be overwhelming at first. There's no easy project clone feature but you can transfer apps to other accounts (make sure to move a duplicated copy to keep projects in both accounts).

User authentication

Ycode

Set up dedicated pages for user authentication like login, signup, and password pages. You can tweak the automatically created pages or build your own from scratch.

Bubble

Each new application comes with a built-in user data type that lets website visitors sign up and log in or out. You can also create Google, Twitter, and Facebook signups.

Dynamic content

Ycode

Creating dynamic content is super easy in Ycode. Simply add a new local database and connect elements on your canvas to data fields in the database. All the content can be managed and updated directly in the database, manually, or in bulk.

Artboard
Bubble

Bubble lets you create your own database too, though it might be a bit harder for beginners to connect data. If you want to work with dynamic content, it's likely that you need to first browse through some how-to manuals or (video) tutorials.

Workflows

Ycode

The intuitive workflows in Ycode can be used to build a variety of sequences, such as to sent emails, redirect visitors to other pages, make people wait a few seconds before another action is triggered, show or hide elements, submit forms and even delete database records.

Artboard
Bubble

Bubble doesn't have a workflow builder like Ycode but works with API workflows, which lets you run workflows on a POST request. You can send emails, subscribe people, and more. In their paid plans, Bubble also offers the option to schedule workflows.

Elements

Ycode

You'll find a wide selection of responsive elements— from sliders and collapsible blocks to text links and custom code blocks. In the Layer sidebar, you can keep track of your layers and reorganize their hierarchy, if necessary.

Artboard
Bubble

There are a variety of elements available in Bubble's library. You can also add more with plug-ins. All elements are responsive and divided into three categories to easily find what you're looking for.

Collaboration

Ycode

With Ycode, you can collaborate on projects by inviting users to the projects you're working on. Each user can be given a user seat and assigned a different role. This feature also allows invitees to transfer projects to a different account.

Artboard
Bubble

Bubble lets you invite multiple users to work on the same account project, with the ability to assign different permissions to each user. Like Ycode, you can also transfer apps between accounts.

SEO

Ycode

Search engines love Ycode's clean semantic code, high-speed page loads, and mobile-friendly designs. You can add social settings, create static or dynamic metadata, and even exclude your web project from Google so it can't be found.

Artboard
Bubble

Bubble meets all SEO standards that search engines request and lets you customize how your site is seen by crawlers. You can set your own SEO meta and social sharing data, as well as mark the option to be excluded from Google search results.

Ycode

Hosting

Ycode

Use a Ycode subdomain or add your own custom domain name. Each domain comes with an SSL certificate. Hosting is reliable and secure, and to keep your projects safe, automatic backups are made. You can also create manual backups.

Artboard
Bubble

Bubble offers site hosting and custom domains with SSL as well. You can download a CSV file with your project's information but it's not possible to host your app elsewhere or access its code. Bubble premium plans offer the option to backup and restore projects.

Pricing

Ycode

Get to know Ycode without any strings attached. The Free plan lets you build web projects at no cost. To add additional features or space, choose from two project plans. To invite other people to collaborate, add Account plans to add more user seats.

Artboard
Bubble

Start with Bubble for free as well. Then upgrade to a premium Project plan that includes more features and file storage. You can pay extra for capacity or storage. User seats can be added but on a higher tier plan. Bubble's Personal plan is cheaper than Ycode, but all other upgrades are more expensive.
